Our Ethos

For five generations our family has been welcoming visitors to the Mendocino Coast, and these deep roots influence every aspect of how we run our inn. We view ourselves as stewards of our land, our community, and our legacy. From our Audubon-certified golf course, to water-preservation techniques, to recycling flow, we strive to ensure that we’ll be able to continue welcoming your children and grandchildren to the same beautiful piece of pristine coastline our great-grandparents knew and loved.

Where We Are

We’re located on the secluded Mendocino Coast in Northern California, minutes from the Victorian village of Mendocino, 15 minutes south of Fort Bragg. We’re roughly a three hour drive from either San Francisco or Sacramento, and are served by the regional Santa Rosa airport two hours away as well (if you have access to a private plane check out the Little River airport).

Everything You Need

To us the term ‘resort’ just means we have everything you need – if you want to never get in your car during your stay, you don’t have to. Breakfast, dinner, and drinks? We’ve got you covered. Golf, tennis, massage? Check. Want to explore nature? Walk our garden and grounds, or stroll down our private trail to Van Damme State Beach and 10 miles of incredible hiking.  

Van Damme

You can walk down the hill from the main Inn into beautiful Van Damme State Park or to Van Damme State Beach. Explore the redwoods on miles of gentle hiking trails, discover the unique Pygmy Forest, relax on the beach, explore amazing tidepools, or take a kayak out on the water. Ask us for more information!

Amenities

Our property features a small gift shop, board games and DVDs to borrow, robes, CD players, refrigerators, coffee makers, TVs, irons, and hairdryers. We offer free wireless internet, a guest computer with printer, and a fax machine. We have room service and a bell hop service, and a meeting and conference room.

Massage

Is there anything more luxurious than a massage at the edge of the world? We offer a wide selection of modalities and treatments. Call 707.962.2240 to make a reservation.​​​

Tennis

Tennis anyone? Use of our two lighted championship tennis courts is free to guests and non-marking shoes are the only uniform required. Ask us if you need a racquet or for the key if you’d like to play after dark.

Reservation Policy

We require pre-payment in the amount of one night’s stay to confirm all reservations. Special packages may require pre-payment in full at the time the reservation is made.

A minimum stay of two nights is required on week-ends (over a Saturday night) and a minimum stay of 3 nights is required for Holiday weekends. Some holiday periods or special packages may require a stay of more than one night.

Cancellation Policy

Deposit is equivalent to first-night stay plus tax, as well as package costs, if any. 

We require at least 7-day notice prior to your arrival for cancellations. If your reservation is canceled for any reason, you have the choice of a refund to your original form of payment minus a $40.00 cancellation fee, or the full deposit refunded as a Gift Certificate with no expiration date. You may use this for a future stay.

For cancellations less than 7 days prior to arrival, your deposit can be refunded in the form of a gift certificate, the option of refund to the original form of payment will no longer be available. Any add-on options will automatically be deducted from the deposit refunded for cancellations made within 2 days prior to arrival.

For no-shows, your deposit will be forfeited, so please let us know as soon as possible if your travel plans change. 

Check-in / Check-out

Check-in time is 4pm and Check-out time is 10am

Room Service

Room service is available during regular dining hours. Full wine and cocktail menus are available for delivery on our main property. We are also happy to deliver bottles of wine to guests at Van Damme, Mallory House, Rosie’s Cottage or the Llama Cottage.

Update

During the Covid-19 crisis, for the safety of our staff, community, and guests we are requiring masks and social distancing at check-in and in common spaces. If you feel sick or are exhibiting any symptoms, please contact us to reschedule your stay.
